Meridian Gets School Construction Money

Macon The legislature came up with money in its closing hours last week to finish a school construction project in central Illinois.

Meridian will be getting $2.6 million to complete work on two new schools. One is in Macon. The other is in Blue Mound.

Meridian had been considering borrowing money to complete the project had the state not provided the money during the budget crisis. The borrowing would have been necessary due to contractual commitments with construction companies.

The announcement of the funding for Meridian came from State Representatives Sue Scherer, (D) Decatur and Bill Mitchell, (R) Forsyth.
